Return of Diana and introduction of PeekSpeed and the Voyeur Room: Peekshows is alive and kicking!
Return of Diana and addition of some nice new models: following on the heels of Kitra and Nikki, Diana [Peekshows bio - our review] is finally back at Peekshows. The last time we checked, she was already back in the top 10 camgirls. Joining her among the top Peekshows models are Camgirlsfans long-time favorites Novarita [Peekshows bio - our review] and Kloudia [Peekshows bio - our review]. Some nice new models have recently joined, like Dalia who apparently enjoys playing with food and yoghurt in her shows ; ) Still, Peekshows is a shadow of its old self when considering the number of models online. These days there are hardly ever more than 30 models online at any time, compared to the 100+ models online at the time of the camsite's glorious days.
PeekSpeed and audio: finally large-screen high speed videos are available, as well as audio. Still not as good as Livejasmin's triple-sized video feeds, this is a very welcome addition to Peekshows, albeit we would prefer the use of java or flash technology over the oftentimes buggy windows media player used by Peekshows.
Blogs and private messaging system: we mentioned before that Peekshows had finally started new features such as camgirls blogs and rss feeds. A lot of models have started adding blogs to their bio pages, and it is now easier to find them by selecting "models with blogs" in the Models menu. It also shows the date of the latest blog entry. Once in blog mode, members can comments on blog entries and show their support. Some girls use it to share their feelings or the latest news about Peekshows. For instance we learn from Lottiel that there is now a very strict no email/no msn or yahoo messenger policy, which is a bummer as this was the only way to get cam2cam shows on Peekshows. Another new feature, the personal email system, is also heavily filtered and all email addresses or personal contact details will be deleted. Still, the blogs allow some users to communicate with their favorite models: it's a great tool to check model popularity. Lil (aka Lilyan) [Peekshows bio - our review], one of the camgirls featured in our reviews has seen a lot of requests in her blog comments for her to come back to Peekshows.
The voyeur room: one of the things Peekshows does best is the who's online view. You can chat, view the cam feeds, view who is online, and jump from room to room from within the same window. This is like Spread4u's "jump to next window" feature, only much better implemented. Peekshows are now trying to leverage their superior technology by offering a simultaneous multicams view: members can view up to 8 live video feeds at the same time! This is great fun for those members who like checking out what is happening in their favorite camgirl rooms at the same time. We've had some problems in our testing, but we trust that Peekshows will fix it soon.

Peekshows update
A number of long-time models, including US and Canadian camgirls, have returned to Peekshows. The site has also finally started adding new features.
Return of long-time Peekshows stars: some of the most popular models have now returned to Peekshows, to the delight of their fans. This camsite may lack some of the more advanced features found on other webcam sites, but it is ultimately the models that make a great place. Some models like Rita (now NovaRita), Katrine or Kloudia are now online more often, and popular US and Canadian models like Kitra, Nikki, Alexx, Alyssa and Mandi are back. Finally new features: while Peekshows fans are still waiting for sound and recorded shows, two features that have been announced a number of times but not already implemented, the site has started adding some new original features, including camgirl blogs. The models have not yet started publishing much, but we could find some entries in some bios such as Linaxxx. This is definitively a nice way to get to know your favorite models better. Peekshows now also features an online notification system in the form of a rss feed to which members can subscribe. It is a bit cumbersome, and we much prefer the online monitor in our camgirls reviews section (very handy for ladies working on several sites) or in our who's live monitor section
Another way to get closer to your favorite camhosts is to offer her gifts: each model may create a wishlist and members can make little presents.

Peekshows is one of the longest running and more reliable camgirl websites.
Tips for the power user: following our review, here are some tips for the power user.
Model rankings: when in chat mode, choosing the "online models" function displays pictures of online camgirls in the chat window. This makes changing rooms very easy. More interestingly, it is a way to find out who are the most popular models currently online: model pictures are ranked by the number of private shows they have, and it is an easy way to segregate between the more "professional" chathosts from the more amateurish type. A more comprehensive list of the top-performing camgirls on the site is available in the member area, and it lets users see the popular models, the model of the hour, etc. It is unclear how that ranking is being established.
Why do we like Peekshows Camgirls so much? Peekshows models are really among the best. They have great personal skills and most of them really care for their visitors. Voyeur mode: this option allows to watch (but not to talk with) camhosts while they are in a private or semi-private session. This provides a cheap way to have a large-size view of a performance before making your decision to take the model private. Like the name indicates, it also allows users who are more interested in the performance than in chatting to be entertained at a fraction of the private show price. To find out which models are in private, you can browse through the many individual rooms, but a more efficient way is to go to the site's who's online section which highlights models currently in private with a red "P" sign atop their picture. Model fans should be careful though: "voyeur mode" is actually a misnomer, as the model can see the id's of the users who are voyeuring the performance.
Value deals: the site hosts a happy hour session on every Tuesday morning and evening (PST), during which tokens are available at a reduced price. Power users should also make use of the rewards system, where 2,500 points earn you 25 tokens (worth a five minute private show). New users get 25 tokens, but users can only register once with the same credit card.
Upcoming features: as noted in the review, peekshows has been lagging behind in terms of features. There is no audio chat nor cam2cam option available, and the only distinguishing feature is the stand-alone browser (called PeekshowsX) whose only benefit is to give users a full sized video feed in free chat. But things have been moving lately, with the site currently testing a recorded show option. This function already exists at sites such as streamate or cumTV.

Peekshows
Peekshows is one of the longest running and more reliable camgirl websites.
In a nutshell: free view but no chat for non members / quality models
Video quality: the site uses a java-based engine, with very good video feeds, although the quality ultimately depends on the model's setup. You can go to free view and choose the model to view from the camgirls live section of this site.
Models: it is rare to see less than 20-30 models live at anytime. Most models are working from studios and have very good looks. There is a large number of girls from Eastern Europe and Russia, as well as a certain number of chathosts from Northern America. Very few male models. Some two-girl rooms.
Features: the site was once at the forefront, with large and crisp video feeds and little lag time. Chatting options include free, voyeur, semi-private and private shows. There is also a stand alone viewer application (which you can test here), as well as a software alerting you when your favorite models are online. Surprisingly, the site now lags behind as there is no support for sound nor for cam2cam. The owners have chosen to expand in other areas, such as a gift shop where you can make presents to models, and a relatively elaborate look & feel including options to view the "model of the hour", "new chathosts", etc.
Value for money: all depends of course of the chathost. There are discounts depending on how much tokens you buy at one time, and there is a frequent customer programme allowing users to exchange points for free minutes. The site applies a single pricing policy for each of the voyeur (1 token/min), semi-private (3 tokens/min) and private (5 tokens/min) show options. Prices are twice as much for duo shows. Reduced pricing is available on Thursdays, and new members get 25 tokens which will get them a free five minutes private show.
