SecretFriends camgirls enjoy a cult following. This camsite really lets you get close and personal.
In a nutshell: models are what sets this site appart / around 30 camgirls online / no free chat, moderately priced semi-private chat only
Video quality: really pristine video feeds in a reasonable size, using Macromedia Flash-based chatblazer software. This is already the first distinguishing feature: the use of a chat system that is not specific to camgirls sites already makes you feel that you are in a different environment. The downsides are that you cannot resize the video feed and that there is no cam2cam available. Secretfriends however allows you to send your pic to the models.
Features: there is no free chat, but free previews of the video feeds are available, allowing you to know what's happening in the room before you join the chat. Once you get into chat mode, you are presented with messenger-type functions: you can add buddies - including the camgirl - you can customize the fonts, use many emoticons and most importantly you can lock yourself in whisper chat mode where only the intended recipient of your messages (most likely the model) is seeing what you type. You can also have the text chat window float and move it around your screen. Camgirls also have the option to change their chat icon. Overall, the chatting experience is very similar to what you would have on the popular messengers, except that you are flirting with a model and that you pay a fee. The offline features are not very extensive, but they are still original. For instance, Secretfriends' model bios include entries such as "what would I do if I had 1 million dollars" aside from the more obvious questions. The site also allows members to send their pics and email messages to the models. The models' schedule is clear, updated weekly and very accurate, so that you will never miss your favorite friends.
Models: only around 20 to 30 models are available at any time, but what wonderful ladies! Camgirls are typically from Eastern Europe and work out of studios, although some are real independent amateurs. Because Secretfriends only offers paid-for chat, and as an effect of the chat features, members tend to flirt and get personal with camgirls. Most models do provide adult entertainment, but you will also find girls who only want to tease and be teased. Most Secretfriends camgirls speak proper English and can entertain a great conversation. Some of them were not happy with the free/private chat model used by most other websites, presumably because they look for more than mere adult entertainment. It is really easy to develop a personal relationship with these camgirls. This is possibly the reason why Secretfriends rules are so strict and provide for the banning of any camgirl providing members with their contact details or phone numbers.

There is no real private chat as other members can join at all times. In our testing, however, other visits were relatively rare, which in effect gives you a private chat experience for the price of what other sites call semi-private or "group chat". There is a clear timer letting you know how many credits you have left and warning you when your credit is low.

ImLive is the grand-daddy of camgirl sites. It has a real community atmosphere and provides a lot to the most demanding camgirls fans.
In a nutshell: a massive camsite, with more than 400 models available at any time / no free chat / many innovative features such as themed parties
Video quality: good video quality, but largely depends on the camgirl's bandwidth. Luckily, each camgirl's bio clearly indicates the model setup and features. The cam2cam feature is also well implemented and many models also have audio.
Models: so many camgirls that it is hard not to get lost. With such a massive selection, users spend a lot of time looking for the best match to their taste. Many many splendid models from Eastern Europe, a comparatively large selection of models from Asia and the Americas, Imlive is the place to start if you really want to broaden your horizons. We have found a large number of camhosts working from home and few professional models from studios. Independent models tend to be more welcoming, and many take part in the sites' theme parties. At times you really feel part of a great community that celebrates together. Chances are also higher that you can find a model that speaks your language, although there is no way to search models based on their language skills from the main site.

Chat in your own language: an easy way to find camgirls who speak your language is to use the French, where you can chat "avec les hôtesses", German, Italian ("Videochat dal vivo!"), Portuguese and Spanish versions of Imlive. Value for money: free chat is not accessible to non-members. Registration is free, but only text chat is free, with sometimes a happy hour when few models offer free video chats, but their rooms tend to become full very quickly. Most often, the happy hour features camgirls offering shows at $1.48/minute. Official rates are ranging from $1.98 to $4.8/minute, but many camgirls offer discount codes in their bios of up to $.6/minute, making Imlive a very good value for money.

Webcams.com is a nice website where you will soon feel at home. Models are cute, and users will enjoy a distinct "amateur" feeling.
In a nutshell: around 50 models available at all time, most of whom manage to retain a real amateur flavor. On the downside, there is no free chat as paid registration is needed to access the rooms. A lot of teasers are available to preview the site before you join: be sure to check the video samples.
Video quality: "home style" design, but good flash-based video quality. The cam2cam feature is also well implemented, with a separate screen for the user's own video feed. This is simple but much better than the pic-in-pic implementation one finds on other sites. Some models also offer sound communication. Sound and two-way video communication really changes the experience for the better if you want to get closer to your favorite camgirls. The feature is available on a growing number of camsites, but with many models on webcams.com being real amateurs, it really fits well with the overall theme of the site.
Models: camgirls are based in a wide range of countries, with a comparatively large number of Asians. There are a few very sexy "stars" and many cute models who tend to be very pleasant to chat with. Pricing for private shows (called "premium chat") is set by the individual camhosts, with most models charging $2.99 per minute (including couple shows).

CumTV, also branded as Cams.com or camgirlslive, recently had a site makeover. Let's find what's new.
In a nutshell: some tweaks to the front page, and a lot of nice modifications to the layout of the member pages that let you get even closer to the models. Their camgirls selection remains excellent. Changes apply to all of the sibling sites, including our very own CamGirlsFans Live.
Interface changes: the new front page gains in readability, allowing visitors to better identify those models who are currently in private show. The bio pages also benefit from a nice redesign, allowing visitors easier access to camhost bios and pictures. Members also gain easier access to recorded shows, camhost pictures (close to 2 million captures from free and private chat sessions), messages, and the other new offline features discussed below. Members can also customize the who's online view and choose the skin they want to apply to the site.
New offline features: a lot of new options are available to enhance your experience. Members can get closer to their favorite models by exchanging email messages and by creating a member profile, with photos and other information that you may want to share with the models. Members weary of their privacy can always make their profile invisible. The messaging system is now a fully featured email. The new members home page also features those award-winning camgirls who are presently online. Awards boil down to electing the most popular model each month. Voting is limited to members who have been in a private session or have looked at a paid-for recorded show.

AmateurDatingCams is another Germany-based camsite hosting real amateur camgirls, but we prefer Camcontacts Deutschland and Visit-X.
In a nutshell: paid email registration required / many more international models than on other German camsites / "Dating Cams" is a misnomer: not much flirting and dating, but rather uninhibited action
Models: there were always a great number of camgirls online at Amateurdatingcams during our visits. Many camgirls are German, but there is a comparatively large number of non-German models speaking different languages including Italian, Spanish, French, and of course Romanian or Russian (even if they don't advertise it
. We liked Jamie4u and Naomi4u for their candid looks. The more international nature of the site is maybe the main (the only?) reason to choose Amateurdatingcams over Visit-x. Video quality: we've had some trouble making the video feeds work, but when they do, they are of a nice quality and reasonably large. No audio in the rooms and no cam2cam.
Features: registration comes with 35 coins and grants members access to amateur livecams, Hustler videos, and picture galleries. These features are nice but do not really sit well with the "dating cams" name of the site. Only few free features available to guests, including galleries and bios. Great way to find your way through the multitude of online models, with a nice camgirl language search function.
Value for money: no free chat. Members-only chat, which is priced at 7 coins per minute. Membership is starting at $5.99 for 3 days and comes with 35 coins. That makes an average price per minute at roughly above $1, which is very reasonable. Additional coins are however priced at roughly $0.5, making the price per minute much higher at $3.5.

Spread4u recently upgraded its layout and added new features
In a nutshell: new site design, the default one being pictured below
New site skins: a site's 'skin' greatly influences how you feel about a camsite. The developers at Spread4u understand this, and provide a selection of styles for the site: modern, sci-fi, dungeon, steel, wet, gold, red, bubblegum, and blue. We tend to prefer the default style, which is the only one that prominently features the new party chat option. We also like the dungeon style, which has a subdued homey color theme, as shown below. As was the case with the previous style, the distinction between models available for free chat and those only doing nude chat is not very clear.
New features: the first new option that features prominently is the party chat option, a new way easily to switch among rooms of participating models. Like in many other rooms, chat is free and requires not registration. We fail to see much added value in this, and after a couple of weeks the number of models available in party chat is quickly dwindling. The other new feature is a much improved audio feed. This is a very welcome development, and it is now possible to have a crisp sound from camgirls, even from those who have no mikes. A majority of models now have audio, clearly marked by an icon under their pic. Cam2cam is also available now at no extra charge, unfortunately through a specific piece of software you must install on your computer. Offline features have not yet been upgraded: no recorded shows, camgirls rating and messaging, comments/forums, etc. which you can find on Streamate or the revamped Cumtv.

This is quite reasonable, compared to other sites that price up to $5.00 per minute.
